Why Counseling?

Life is full of struggles and challenges and at times we need help to get through them. Counseling is a process in which I help a person work through the issues in their life that prevent them from living it fully. People come to counseling for many different reasons including grief, stress, depression, anxiety, trauma, anger, relationship problems, low self-esteem, shame and addiction and through it they look to find their own personal freedom. Counseling can be a short or long process depending on the person and issues involved but it can be an important step in making positive changes in life. door-672999_1920

Scheduling the first counseling session may be the most difficult but important decision you can make. Many people feel embarrassed that they need help but the truth of the matter is that we all need help in life. No one can do it alone, we all need help when we encounter problems that are beyond our ability to solve on our own. Believe it or not but many of the people in your life have been in or are currently in counseling without your knowledge.  Recognizing the need for help is not a weakness but a strength and begins your journey to a new way of living.  It is after finding personal freedom through counseling that people wonder why they waited so long to begin.

” I now see how owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we will ever do.” – Brené Brown

Don’t be afraid to get the help you need

An important aspect of counseling is the counseling relationship. You need to work with someone you feel comfortable with. I hope I can be that person for you but if not please seek out someone who does. If you need help finding a counselor that suits your individual needs feel free to contact me and I will do my best to direct you to that person.

When we were children, we used to think that when we were grown-up we would no longer be vulnerable. But to grow up is to accept vulnerability… To be alive is to be vulnerable. – Madeleine L’Engle
